Therefore, partly to motivate myself and other writers who are going through lulls in what has become a very tough time in the world of online writing, I'm starting the #JustWrite campaign. Just find something that interests you at this very moment, no matter how dumb or inane it might seem and just write about 500 words about it. I've always considered writing at least 500 words a day no matter what a great exercise, and you can take a break day or two here and there, but even I, the one who wrote the post about "Writing 500 Words a Day" has broken the habit more than once even in the past month.
I read somewhere recently that writing daily makes you a better person. One thing it definitely does is teach you a sort of discipline, especially for your mind. You start realizing that you're thinking about things once you force yourself to put them to paper that you may never have realized you were thinking. You don't have to go and win a Pulitzer Prize. Heck, what you write never has to leave your private journal. But for the purposes of this #JustWrite challenge, it would be good to publish at least something, even just as a Facebook update, or perhaps start a free Blogger, Weebly, or Wordpress account.
The topics do not matter. Format does not matter. Just write a piece that’s around 500 words. It can be short a dozen words or so, as long as it's in the neighborhood. It doesn't even necessarily have to be coherent - but the more so the better, of course! I'd love to see what people can scribe!
So everyone, #JustWrite!
